Targeted with poison, as teenage tennis star Gabriella Taylor was advancing in the Wimbledon tennis tournament, she was struck down by a suspected poisoning attack.
Now police suspect foul play.
British tennis player Gabriella Taylor is fighting for her life in hospital after claims emerged that she was poisoned with rat urine while competing at Wimbledon tennis tournament.
She was in good health and playing great tennis. The 18-year-old had reached the quarter-final stage of the girl's tournament.
She even told her Twitter followers how she was "so happy".
Cut to short. But her Joy at progressing through the tournament so turned to deathly horror as she suddenly fell gravelly ill.
It was so bad that her mum said the teenager was "close to death".
Doctors fought for days to save her. Taylor spent four days in intensive care before doctors diagnosed a rare strain of Leptospirois, which can be transmitted through rat urine.
Scotland Yard are now investigating and have confirmed it is treating the case as an allegation of poisoning with intent to endanger life or cause GBH.
Targeted by organized crime? Police are currently investigating whether a betting syndicate targeted Taylor. Other possibilities are rival players, or even a coach.
